Fóir, your assistant

Fóir is the assistant built into the Foir admin. It can answer questions about your workspace, find and summarise content, and make changes on your behalf. Any change it makes is staged for you to review first.

The name is Irish. Fóir means “to help,” and you will see it invite you with “Fóir orm…” (“help me…”).

Where to find it

There are two ways in, and they share the same conversation.

Open the command bar with ⌘K (Ctrl+K on Windows and Linux) and switch to Ask Fóir. This is best for a quick question or a one-off action. If the answer needs a back-and-forth, Fóir moves it into the panel.

For a longer conversation, open the Fóir panel on the right-hand side of the admin. It stays with you as you move between screens, so you can keep working while you chat.

It knows the screen you are on

Fóir is screen-aware. It automatically knows which workspace and project you are in, which page you are looking at, and the record you have open in the editor, including any unsaved changes.

That means you can ask things like “summarise this page,” “set the SEO title from the headline,” or “what’s missing before I can publish this?” without spelling out what “this” refers to. Fóir already has the context.

Changes are staged for you to review

Fóir does not change your content behind your back. Every kind of change is something you look at first.

Edits to the record you have open appear as unsaved changes in the editor, exactly as if you had typed them. Look them over and save when you are happy, or discard them.

New or updated content elsewhere is written as a draft, so it stays out of sight until you publish it.

Anything destructive or hard to undo, like deleting something, publishing, or revoking a key, pauses and asks for your explicit approval with an Approve or Deny card. Nothing happens until you approve.

Read-only questions, like “list the models in this project” or “show me records updated this week,” just run. There is nothing to approve.

What it can help with

Fóir can work across most of your workspace, within your own permissions. It can find and explain content, models, media, and settings. It can draft and edit records, and fill in fields on the record you are editing. When you are shaping a new content type, it can create and adjust models for you. And it can answer “how do I…” questions about Foir itself.

If you can do it in the admin, Fóir can usually help you do it faster, and it always leaves the final save to you.

Getting the most out of it

Be specific about scope. “Update the hero heading on the home page” works better than “fix the homepage.”

Review staged edits before you save. Fóir is fast, but you are the editor.

Start a new chat for a new task. Conversations are kept a manageable length so each reply stays quick. If Fóir asks you to start a fresh chat, your workspace and content are unaffected.

Fóir uses AI credits. You can see your balance and usage on your workspace’s Usage page.
